REVIEW - Rise And Fall Of WCW - Joe Snow
Starting as a regional territory in North Carolina, Jim Crockett Promotions morphed into the largest wrestling company in the world. However, a series of events led to the company being bought by Vince McMahon. This 3-disc DVD set features a documentary covering the rise and fall of the company as well as 20 matches from both Jim Crockett Promotions and World Championship Wrestling.

The 20 matches featured on this DVD feature only three that have been on other DVD sets, a vast improvement over the recent Starrcade DVD set. I do have to wonder why a few of the matches on the set were included and would have liked to have seen some of "fall of WCW" matches that were mentioned in the documentary.

My biggest problem with this DVD is disc one. That disc runs only about two hours (the other two run about three each). As if having to sit through the "Don't Try This at Home" PSA isn't enough, there was a commercial for the National Guard on the DVD that can't be fast-forwarded through. I really hope that this isn't the start of a new trend.

This DVD belongs in the wrestling library of any fan that used to follow WCW. Even newer fans that never followed WCW will enjoy this set as many of the stars of WCW also had great success in the WWE.
